Looking for sneakers that perfectly blend basketball heritage with modern streetwear and a touch of exotic flair? The women's Air Jordan 4 Retro "Birds of Paradise" in the colorway Coconut Milk/Muslin-Bright Mango (product code: HV0823-101) is one of the most exciting drops of 2026. This exclusive model appeals to both hardcore sneakerheads and premium fashion lovers looking to add a fresh summer vibe to their rotation.
The History of Air Jordan 4: From NBA Courts to the Streets
The Air Jordan 4 was first introduced in 1989, designed by the legendary Tinker Hatfield. Following the massive success of the 3s, Hatfield faced the challenge of pushing performance basketball shoes even further. The 4s brought revolutionary features:
-
Breathable mesh with urethane overlays on the side panels.
-
A unique lacing system with plastic "wings" (wings) that allowed players to customize their foot lockdown.
Who Wore Them?
This model is forever etched in NBA history thanks to Michael Jordan. It was in the Air Jordan 4 that he showcased one of his most famous moments in 1989 – the legendary last-second shot against Cleveland, known as "The Shot". MJ wore them throughout the fantastic 1988/1989 season, turning this silhouette into a global phenomenon.
Exotic Design "Birds of Paradise"
While the original 1989 version was purely a sports affair, the "Birds of Paradise" edition (inspired by exotic flowers and paradise birds) embraces a premium lifestyle look:
- Upper: A combination of soft leather in Coconut Milk and a suede mudguard in Muslin gives the shoe a luxurious, slightly vintage touch.
- Details: A gold metallic Jumpman logo on the heel adds a touch of exclusivity.
- Outsole: A true explosion of color awaits below – tropical shades of Bright Mango and Sundial contrast with the neutral upper, ensuring you grab attention with every step.
Who Wears Air Jordan 4 Today?
From basketball courts to red carpets and fashion capitals, the Jordan 4 has long transcended its athletic roots. Today, the AJ4 silhouette is regularly worn by the biggest pop culture icons like Travis Scott, Rihanna, Billie Eilish, and Bella Hadid.
With its distinctive color scheme, the Birds of Paradise version is a perfect choice for women's streetwear – it pairs well with oversized shorts, wide baggy jeans, and even minimalist summer dresses.
- Exclusivity: Women's exclusive release (available in women's sizing).
- Outfit Tip: These sneakers shine best when paired with neutral earthy tones, where the Bright Mango on the outsole perfectly complements your entire look. Ready for your next fresh fit?
Air Jordan 4 Retro
The silhouette that defined an era and continues to shape streetwear today - the Air Jordan 4 Retro
TheAir Jordan 4 Retro debuted in 1989 as the second model from the pen of the legendary Tinker Hatfield, who took the Jordan line even further with a revolutionary combination of technology and design. On the court, they were made famous by Michael Jordan, most notably with the iconic "The Shot" against Cleveland that forever linked the AJ4 to one of the most legendary moments in NBA history. The model was also worn by players like Mitch Richmond and Horace Grant, reinforcing its status in basketball culture.
The AJ4 made its way into the lifestyle world during the 90s and 2000s thanks to the hip-hop scene, where artists like Kanye West, Eminem and Kid Cudi began wearing them. Their distinctive mesh panels, plastic wingtip elements and visible Air unit created a design that looked technical, futuristic and yet fit in perfectly with street fashion. It was this mix of performance details and distinctive aesthetics that helped the AJ4 become one of the most influential sneakers of all time.
Today, the Air Jordan 4 Retro pairs well with cargo pants, loose jeans, tracksuits and minimalist streetwear outfits. Their sturdier construction adds character to the look and acts as a strong statement element. If you're looking for a model that combines history, style and the instantly recognisable Jordan brand DNA, the fours are the obvious choice - an icon that has lost none of its charm after three decades.

Materials
In the history of sneakers, there is perhaps no more successful collaboration between a sneaker brand and an athlete than in the case of Michael Jordan and Nike. From the union of these two concepts came a legend in the form of Air Jordan in 1984. These sneakers were initially worn exclusively by the legendary thirty-three, however, within a few months of their introduction, Jordans were also in the hands of the public.
The legend in the form of the Air Jordan 1
The Air Jordan 1, which Michael first put on more than thirty years ago, is now one of the most popular silhouettes among sneakerheads. But the beginnings weren't exactly easy. In 1985, the most famous basketball player in history was banned from wearing Jordan 1 shoes because they didn't meet the prescribed game dress code, according to the NBA . To make matters worse, he would have to pay a $5,000 fine for every game he wore them.
This, of course, wouldn't be the seasoned Nike, which had a proper respect for its workhorse. Rather than risk the recall of this Jordan sneaker, it was decided that the company would rather cash in any such fine to Michael just so he could wear the J's as they were. The pinnacle of healthy audacity was an ad for just the Air Jordan 1 shoe called "banned." It featured, among other things, the legendary line, "The NBA threw them (Air Jordan 1) out of the game. Unfortunately the NBA can't stop YOU from wearing them".
New era, new Jordans
Time moved on, and as the years passed, so did more Jordan shoes. After the legendary 1s came the 2s, then the 3s, and by 2000 the number of new silhouettes had climbed to 15. Today, there are many more, and more models are still being added. However, even though these are far from being some worthless pieces, the glory of their first retro models is hardly matched by the new Jordan shoes aka Jordans .
Nike Jordan shoes have already entered their fourth decade of existence. Unlike a lot of other brands, Jordan sneakers have never strayed from their pre-marked path, that is to produce basketball sneakers for top athletes. But from the street basketball courts and gym floors, Air Jordan shoes have moved in a big way to the city streets as well. Among other things, the popularity among fashion and sneaker fans is also due to their popularity among the world's music stars, who do not hesitate to wear Jordan sneakers to concerts, fashion events and the most prestigious music awards.
